Biography of Prince David Alexander Ssimbwa

Prince David Alexander Ssimbwa was a distinguished Ugandan member of the Buganda royal family, a diplomat, and a patriot. He was the son of King Daudi Chwa II, the brother of Ssekabaka Edward Mutesa II, and the uncle of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi. Prince Ssimbwa played a significant role in defending Buganda’s monarchy during periods of political unrest, particularly during the crisis of 1966.

After his release from political imprisonment, he served Uganda with great distinction as a diplomat, including a six-year tenure in Ethiopia and over thirty years of service in China. Renowned for his courage, loyalty, and dedication, Prince Ssimbwa remained a proud guardian of Buganda’s royal heritage and a steadfast friend of His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni until his passing.
